Mansukh Patel’s global peace initiative

The World Peace Flame is an active symbol of humankind's shared aspirations for peace. It was created in July 1999 when seven live flames, lit by prominent peacemakers on five continents of the world, were flown across the oceans by military air forces and commercial airlines and united into one eternal Flame. Hundreds of previously unconnected individuals joined forces to make this visionary dream into a living symbol of hope for all of humanity.

The World Peace Flame is being installed in monuments around the world, presented to world leaders, and opening major events. These events have included the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Cape Town and Barcelona, the G8 Summit in Okinawa, Japan, Cinema for Peace at the Berlin International Film Festival, and the Earth Champions environmental awards in Switzerland.

In April 2004 for the first time in history the World Peace Flame brought together Ambassadors from every single country on earth to endorse a Joint Statement for Peace. The ceremony was held at the Peace Palace in The Hague, where the first World Peace Flame monument had been established in 2002.

Mansukh Patel’s book, The Flame that Transforms, co-authored with Andrew Wells and Savitri MacCuish, demonstrates the effect of the World Peace Flame throughout the world.
